Think of children again

Swine flu still appears in the front page papers. I remind you not to be close to the one infected flu. It is the man to man infection such as coughing, sneezing, blood, mucus, saliva, etc. It is virus that can not eliminate. Strong health and protection are the criteria to resist.

For my children again. I am thinking of you to collect money or invest for further business. You have to make a saving for your own. Otherwise, you can not settle down. If your saving is not possible, please find the ways for more. That means working harder or finding other job or extra job. Your family could contribute this matter too. I wonder, if only making a cup of drink for sale, is it a way to get more?

Nong Ben, you are only 24 years old, a long way to go. Now it is time to start. Please think about it and do it right away. Don't work for one job and go home. You have to think to improve yourself all the time. If you are able to settle down, I will be happy to go on my life. I am certain that you have talents and can do these things. Please awake, think and try.

Mae Tid want to go out of town particularly on the long weekend, I have no idea where we should go. I'd like to go down south, Krabi, Songkla, etc, because I have not been there quite long, I am thinking about it in case we can provide some from our monthly sum for the trip. However, the rainy season is starting and the depression storm is coming soon.

I am reading a book named "The Top Secret" It is an interesting book. I was impressed about "subconscious mind" and how to think positively. One day, I would interpret some content such as subconscious mind can make us successful as we wish. But we should make a wish positvely, "we don't want to get sick" is a negative wish that can be recorded in subconscious mind, it may happen "get" or "not get" sick. The sentence "we want to be healthy" is positive. Subconscious mind can make your wish come true, because you intend to do things to fulfil your wish. For example, a man saved an animal life and prayed for his father to recover from a serious disease and few days later, then his father's sick got relieved. It could really happen from the secret minds of him and his father connected to each other. Our subconscious minds could find ways to fulfil wishes if we set wishes in advance positively but it is only the possibility. One wished he found a space for car in the crowded parking lot and he found one. An other one wished to be rich and he tried the ways to work harder and cleverly, then he got rich. However, if we have no wish, we will be happy in mind. That is a target of leaving the present world to Dharmma World. Chavalvut Chainuvati

caution!!! swine flu , epidemic disease.

Last 6-7 years ago, avian influenza[H5N1] was widely infected in Thailand. Meanwhile, I was working for the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and participating in this epidemic disease prevention. It first started in Nakornsawan whereas there must be a firm importing chicken breeds or vaccines from aboard. The disease rapidly spreaded out to other provinces such as Chachoengsao, Supanburi, etc. Government compensated for the loss with very big budget. Farmers who suffered from the disease were glad to get money. The disease recovered by the higher temperature weather and strong cooperative programme between government and private sectors.
I read from the news that, there was a swine flu[A/H1Ni] outbreak in Mexico with lots of human loss. This is dangerous and people have to be careful. Don't eat raw pork without heating. The meat should be heated at above 100 degree celsius for a few minutes, in other words, eat completely cook and hot pork.
These influenza strains of virus like cool temperature. They will remain if the food is in the refrigerator. They like the liquid or moist food. If the food is dry for a few days, virus may disappear. However, everyone should eat well cook food except vegetable and fruit. Recommend that fresh vegetable and fruit should be washed with running water for minutes before eating. This is to prevent chemical residue and bacteria. In some books indicated that don't eat raw cabbage and bean sprout. Cabbage has Goitrogen which prevent Thyroid Gland producing Iodine to make Thyroscine causing big throat. Bean sprout has Phytate which catches some elements in food resulting not being absorbed to the body. Chavalvut

Please look at the diet, exercise, and health. You are still young

Hospital again. This time my blood pressure went up to 160-90. I wondered why it was up rapidly. In the last few months, it was only 130-85 and then later 140-90. Now, I am trying my diet control and increasing my exercise a little. I hope that it will come down soon.

Yesterday [April 24th] I went to visit the Toyota Plant in Banpho, Chachoengsao. I was impress of the highest splendid technology in car business. Production under assembly line was in automatic scheme and skilled mechanics handled it with full experience. Nowaday, we are able to have a good standard car easily. In the past, I used to work in this area which was covered with rice field, soil was so fertile and appropriated to rice. But, the situation has changed, industries cover the area instead. It is the technological world to be accepted. In last 30's-40's year, I rode the motorcycles and jeeps back and forth in this area. Beside rice, there were quite a few diversified farms too.

Today, I am going to attend in the Cremation Ceremony of my old time friend and his wife. They have got a car accident while driving on the highway to Chiangmai. When we were young we had a good and long time drinks many times. I hope that drinking was not the cause of his leaving. Again, after cremation, I am to join the praying service of my former long time senior colleage. He was the researcher on oil crops while I was an oil crops extension leader for 15 years. He was 77 and suffered from lung cancer due to heavy smoking for ages. He was also a heavy drinker as well. Both senior and very senior friends were very close to me. I wonder whether it is our time to leave this world. I was also a heavy drinker and smoker although now it is over.

I went to the MRI test[brain x-rays] and found that my brain was deteriorated much worse than the same ages. This resulted me to forget everything and unstable stand. Also, my ears, eyes, bone, teeth have been serious deteriorated too. These happened to me because I did not know how to treat my body in right methods. Moreover, my times of fun were to destroy health without care. I am thinking of how to maintain them to last longest as I can. My exercise, diet, and stop drinking are important to control along with trying to sleep more hours. I try to convince my children to learn from my mistakes but I am not sure they ever read this block since I have written. Now I am 63 and expect to live longer for 30 years.

The way to be happy is how to lead the healthy and normal life. If mind is settled, not worried of any thing and not stress, get full sleep and smiling, health could be perfect too. Sustainability and me

Setakit Por Piang means working for earning enough for a living, in English, it should be "sustainability" In agriculture, sustainable agriculture means not doing farm too over capacity, but just being appropriate to self ability, acquiring input, and land particularly environmental friendly. Getting unreasonable loan from the bank, farmers have to pay high interest without good return. Sustainable agriculture can be either single or multiple farming. In case the single farming such as flowers, vegetables, they should not be risky and give a certain income.
If a farmer has 5 hectares of rice growing only, when the disasters happen such as drought or severe pest outbreak, the farmer gets nothing. But, if he operates some few crops or fish and/or livestock in 5 hectares. His farming business increase and minimize risks. Multiple farming therefore means doing more farm business on the same size of land. It is a concept of diversified farming.
I learnt about diversified farming in Chachoengsao since I was in the practical training course of last studying year.[1967] We went there and observed the farms. The words " diversified farming" was new to me. Then, two years afterward, I was directed to work stationing in Chachoengsao at the regional agricultural extension office, worked partly on diversified farming. And until 20 years passed, there was the new theory agriculture which was one of diversification. They devided land into parts as ratio of 3:3:3:1. The first "3" grew rice, second "3" for fish pond, third "3" for other perennial or other cash crops and the last "1" was homestead. This new theory was appointed by His Majesty the King. The programme was good particularly in developing country like Thailand where the majority of farmers occupy small land. But it must be the farmer decision freely.
This is just to inform by my opinion that diversified farming [multiple farming in a certain area] is a part of sustainability but not all. Single farming can sustain as well. However, we should do farming with optimum investment. In other words, we invest as much as we can afford, not more than that.
Farming nowadays, is a far cry from the past. Farmers are so experienced and get good income. It is an occupation for the people who like being independent, living in nature, and observing development of lives. I used to dream of being a farmer, driving tractor, when I was a student. Now I am home with nothing to do but still follow some farmer progresses by reading farming magazines. I wish everyone stop fighting for nothing except only the politician benefits and come back to development of professional technique. This is a way of country progress. Chavalvut Chainuvati

demonstration ended but war still be going on.

Yesterday, the red shirts leaders announced the demonstration dissolution. I admired them for this matter. But some of the leaders said that it was not an end. They would re-organise and then come back again. This time they were not to get bloody confrontation with the army. The ex-PM aboard said that he promoted the peaceful demonstration but however, Bangkok were in chaos and two citizens died while local people attacking with the red shirts in Nang lerng Area. Bangkok buses and many items on the roads were burnt down and destroyed. The leaders said that these incidents were not from red shirts. They were the third hands wearing red shirts. [Real red shirts sat at the meeting place peacefully. This was what I thought after reading news. Pity!]
If we believe in Buddhism, the one doing good will get good things and doing bad get bad things. The results of these incidents, any one did any thing, will show in the future. Hoping that, Bangkok will be saved and no one come to invade our area again, this time it was for one benefit by the name of "real democracy"
I think the government has to develop three issues rapidly. Firstly, it is an effective education. People must understand what the Democracy means. They should have pride to be on their own and government should serve them only with basic infrastructure, and ways to help themselves in the locality. Secondly, Distribution of modernisation to cover all country area. People don't need to live in Bangkok but any where in Thailand. The social service and city facilities e.g. hospital, communication, transportation, etc.] are served every where. In the future, we should make all ASEAN Area in the same condition like Eurpean Union, where visa is no need because every area are the same. Thirdly, promoting local government, let people are interested in their local politics more than national one. Being MPs, they should spend time to the major function of legal circumstance. Then, the government is able to run country by laws from the parliament. The trouble happening because the political parties compete to be government for tremendous power and fund. Worrying in my mind

Dear Odd, I was regret to have an argument with you yesterday about red or other colour shirts. I would like to explain many things before you judge the people. Please read carefully. I have not been against anyone just catching information from public news. Now, Thailand is like many countries in CNN news, mob destroyed cars, hurt the opposite politician and invaded the public places yesterday. I don't know whom they are fighting against, or only destroying. It is easy to motivate mob and let them hate somethings until destroy them.

There might be some of the leaders encouraging mob asking for democracy which make loss to the country in terms of economics, stability, reputation and financial situation of the government. Do they really love Thailand? There must be many methods to improve democracy except organising mob. For example, being the good opposition and try to contribute government rule. I guess the opposition party are completely standing for mob and destroying the country, while their colleagues come out to public and requesting the government not to use military controlling. They said government were making the situation worse but I wonder they just stop encouraging mob and everything could be in normal.

Coming back to our country. Will you accept that Thailand is a buddhist country? Buddha's principle told us to forgive and have no revenge, forget the bad things and start new doing with cooperation. Meditation taught us the present thought, no past and future, these are for preventing hate, anger and greed. I wish the people on the roads and invading government officers right now were buddhist. The buddhist people should be calm, gentle and smile. Even they are making demonstration, they must do it with calm. Please look at the country reputation, development and happiness as the mutual target, don't do thing for one personal advantage. I request.

This red shirt demonstration is asking for real democracy by asking for dissolving this parliament. But before this government, the previous 2 governments were under the red shirt's hand and they accepted to work. Secondly, whether their parties were abolished, they could move to other parties easily. Presently, the red shirt party was changed to be oppositon because the small parties who used to be with red shirts now change side to Democrat party until forming the government with the major vote. Not because Thailand has the wrong constitutuion or got the army coup in last 3 years, just the red shirts are not the government this time. They can be the government if they are able to convince these few small parties back to them. Anyhow, yellow shirts may come. Last time, the yellow shirts asked the red shirt governments to dissolve the parliament, but they did not agree, this time they want to dissolve it. It is the same parliament. The play is continue.

I understand that democracy can be the principle while all people have cooperation, working together for the development. If Democracy only means of being from the majority vote, the MP could buy vote from the majority. Don't forget that every baht they distribute to the people, they will get them back when they become the government. No one intend to lose own money to the election. This is why the newest constitution stipulated the criteria of party abolition. They might want the party member to be careful, from one wrong doing may effect the others. So, don't do it if don't want to be a cause of party abolition. No money distribution, they don't have to collect money when become the government. The excess fund can be diminished. We don't have to seek for loan from any where. The government should be care for good reputation more than making money. If they are good, they will get real respect from people. And this is a long happiness and pride, being admired until the next generation. No need to collect money to pay people for being permanent government. Let many qualified people volunteer to be the leader of the country, not only one good talk dictator. Besides, the former government can be the good opposition, or the advisors. The opposition also pay the important role to contribute the country development. Be proud if the opposition group are the good team.
I greatly admire the former Presidents of USA. or former Prime Ministers of England, after their services ended,they just be the advisors, or working in social activities also for the world level.

Red shirts again. When is going to end

Red shirts won. I felt sad for Thailand, the country I am belong. Yesterday, at the SUMMIT MEETING and Bilateral meeeting between ASEAN and other Asian Developed countries, being held at Royal Cliff Hotel, Pattaya, had to be postponed because the red shirts riot broke the police and army front into the hotel before the meeting started. The prime minister therefore requested the postponement and asked for the apology for this incident. Hardly coming to Thailand, more than 10 Top leaders of the countries in Asia extended their sympathy and pormised to come back again after this chaos stopped. I bet Thailand lost face, large budget, and reputation for getting the tour business income. Someone said, the loss figure is about 3 hundread thousand million baht. Besides, hearing that, the red shirts still get to other stragic plan particularly, close the Province Halls in every provinces. I think this time, Thailand is completely collapsed, in debt with a tremendous sum, and people have been thought of 2 sides. The children who are growing up soon and also the next generation will have to be in charge of the national debt and pay plenty of taxes with nothing in return. Every day we spend, every baht our children are responsible for. All have happened under leadership of red shirts hero, ex-prime minister who is aboard but phone in to the mob every nights.

When I was 25, 1971, I was an exchange student going to live in 9 American Farm Families for 6 months in Idaho and Iowa and was in a few International meeting for youths. I also was in the States Fairs, Youth Camps and States Conferences. My host families and people in the societies I was with, were really fond of me and looked at Thailand very positively. I talked about Thailand, People, tradition and certainly about our king to the audience group many times. These activities were included with newspaper and radio interviews. In 1976-1977, I, again, went to England for a studying of higher degree, during the course, I was asked to present about Thailand for the friends from England and all over the world who studied the same. I showed slides, dances and cooked[with contribution of Thai student friends]. Every times, I gave the presentation with pride. Look at that, I was so proud to be Thai and proud of our society very much and now still never forget my feeling of pride at that time.

I wish, in Thailand, there were the underground or any city train in every big provinces, bullet[fast] trains from the north and northeast to the south via the big cities including Bangkok. I wish people got well educated and works all over the country. I wish there were good roads, sea and air links. I wish we had adequate qualified food, health care, modern hospital distributed to every provinces, and some effective post harvest and logistic technology for exporting with cheapest price for the people in the world being able to buy food from Thailand. These are only a small parts of my wishes. They can be achieved by everyone getting cooperation working for the society and never want to be the government or get advantage from the society like some of the people have done. Hero should be the king maker, not the king himself. [king in this case is a word representing a top one in the society]

I am not certain what will be next and how to be end for this riots these days. The winner may be proud over the country losses. They might be the permanent dictators in the future because they make almost half of populaton believe in them. If there is one or any one come, he may use our tax fund distribute to the people talking some good words that "money was from him giving to the people, whom he really cares and would help all the times". My problem is, when the city train, roads, standard education, good hospitals, permanent farm market, etc., will begin, because all money collecting from taxes go with him for buying faith from people. Besides, if he has power, he could order the government offices to make some advantage for him in investing and making profit. Corruption is primative, other advantage by policies can be think of.
I wish my expectation was wrong. The best leader may come and do differently. Thailand might be a heaven in the world.

Why people in Thailand have trust in the leader. One of whom said that if a leader gave every thing to her, and neighbours. Leader could give house, free medication, or free interest loan for investment. He even gave the fund for the soceity without paying back. Thai people are good people, this is why we love and would return every thing to the leader who help us. We don't have to think of over view, only personal advantage will do, even if the leader cheats or gets own advantage we don't care. In the election, we vote for the one who help us with money. We don't care where the money come from, that is not our problem. We like to get help.

Now, I am not certain that I am still proud to be Thai. Why other developed countries are peaceful. Why those people cooperate with the society for development. Why they have pride to be self help and help others, instead of being help. Why we can not do like them. Why we are not proud to have a good man being leader but instead, believe in the bad group propaganda without analysis. Our leader in the old day who led Thailand to progress now is accused to be an enemy of democracy. He was also accused as being the old homosexual. I was surprised about this case if it is true or a lie. I felt sympathy with many ones concerned.

Now, while I am writing this statement, red shirts are invading Ministry of Interior Bangkok where the key cabinet and prime minister coming for a meeting today. I guess the meeting could not take place. TV showed the red shirts destroying the beautiful car. What a pity. When it is going to end. Chavalvut Chainuvati

You are lucky if you are not in Bangkok

Chaos again. Many times in Bangkok. This time, the red shirt party from many provinces close many Bangkok roads by using taxis block the ways and demand the prime minister, and some of the king's privy councillors, particularly, the president of the king's privy council to resign and dissolve the parliament. Besides, the previous constitution [1997] should be used for ruling the country. This is led by the ex-prime minister, who now is aboard as an imprisonment escapee. They demand that this government is not in the democracy system because they have been supported by the army. Ex-Prime minister also said that his penalty was not justiced because court was influent by other party.

Actually, forming of present government was from the same parliament that had been elected by which, the 2 previous governments were from the ex-prime minister's parties. They were abolished automatically by court as being judged that their leaders released bribe to the voters in the last election affair. The group of member moved to other new parties after being abolished twice. Being abolished party member said that the new written constitution[2007] which contained the party abolition criteria was not fair, just only one did wrong why the whole party was abolished. By the situation right now, The government declares Friday the national holiday.

It is not the first time since Thailand started ruling the country with democracy system. There were demonstrations and riots many times before. But the previous riots were mostly for the country improvement but this time I am not certain about the target. I wonder if we really understand what democracy means. Is it the government forming by the majority in the parliament? If it is, the present government was also from the majority vote. Just they believed that the former parties which being abolished were not judged from the justice court [by recent constitution], otherwise, the government would still have been in ex-prime minister's hand.

I wish that both sides, government and the opposition cooperatively run the country. The oppositon has the important roles to follow up and lead the guidance to the government. Is it necessary to be the government? Only if that is for making money. Remember that, Thailand has passed a lot of great development schemes with high tax collecting and a large sum of loan from many sources, but how much change people and general condition are, comparing to the very big sum of money spending many years before. I am afraid that Malaysia, Viatnam and China will be progressive much ahead from us because there are no political chaos.

I just want to complain with my sympathy with the people being struck in the riot in Bangkok roads. While I am writing this letter, it is about 2-3 am. in the next day. Last afternoon yesterday I was in the Government Office near the Liberty Monument and Tookchai 3 Junction, I heard that there were the road blocks, and people I was waiting for attending a meeting were struck and could not come. I then got away rushing home. I drove circulately passing Pratunam and got to tollway at Asoke Road whereas Bangken was my destination. Luckily, at 3 pm, the situation was still not serious. I heard that there were big chaos afterward in Bangkok rush hours. Return to the old days while I was working at the ministry office on Rajdamnern Road, I and the colleagues have been blocked in the office for long hours twice. The peasant demonstrators demanded government to help them paying debt and giving land for the ones who lost land to the water reservoirs. These problems will be never end in Thailand. They are always demanding. The best way is training people to have pride to stand by their own. Being help is ashamed except being handicapped or having trouble.

I am glad that my oldest son is working at Suwannapoom Area, out of town, my daughter is in Los Angeles and the youngest son is in Auckland. My wife is working near our house. We are not effect with this riot. I just wonder that if it is the right decision not to live in Bangkok. But where we are able to go because we were born here and be Thai citizens.

Tomorrow is the beginning of Thai new year, Songran Festival, while people pour water to the senior people they respect, and flowing water together with great fun. It is the long holiday and people get back home to pay respect to their parents and elder relatives. it is the senior citizen day too. I wish this hard incident end before the happy season. For the children, about life and me.

I assumed that, long after the earth was first orbit around the sun, the changeable intensity of solar energy made temperature and environment on the earth changed from time to time, this might effect the reaction of the elements on earth, a life was begun by some elements along with carbon and hydrogen were reacted together until a life unit calling "cell" was formed. One organic cell had first started in the water and then moved up to land, developed to be plants and animals which the scientists classified them in terms of phyla, classes, families, genera and species.
There are 15 essential elements in plant nutrition. Carbon, hydrogen and oxygen are plenty in water and air. Nitrogen,Phosphorus and potassium are the major elements which are in the chemical fertilizers. Calcium, sulphur and magnesium are sometimes added in the fertilizers. These nine elements are called macro elements by which plants need large quantity of them. The 6 micro elements are boron, manganese, zince, ferric, copper, and molybdenum. Searching from a book on "House Agricultural Magazine", third edition, March 2009 page 165[nutrition management by using LCC in rice growing], finding that chlorine and Silicon are also essential for rice nutrition. Therefore, when we eat plants or a part of them, there must be a lot of elements in the stuff we eat. In other words, they are the essential elements for animal and human too. But they are in various forms.
Carbon and hydrogen are the basic elements for life. Any organic matters are consist of carbon and hydrogen as the basic structure and other elements come to bind with them as compounds. Besides, in food protein, nitrogen is an important factor for growth and health. Phosphorus help to strengthen cells and prevent some diseases.There are more elements which we eat such as sodium, chromium, nickel, selenium, etc.[from my vitamin bottle]
The above statement are for the body compound. Mind comes from brain. In Buddhism, Buddha said, a person was consist of soil, water, wind, and fire. This was interpreted that soil represented all elements saying above. Water was also a part in cells and body. Wind was the air we breathe, and fire was the emotion in nagative ways[anger, hatred, and greed] I used to learn that if we were able to seperate body and mind, mind could be free from hurt or sick, did not feel anything whereas the body was being hurt or sick. Meditation was a way trying by making mind in peace.
I went to the hospital again. This time, I got high LDL [Low density lipo nucleic acid] from 120 higher than the maximum value of 100. My blood pressure was also high about 149-91. I wonder while I am trying to minimize my diet and increasing exercise everyday, why I still get these problems. Now, some of my diet such as shrimp, squid, salty fishes, etc. has been abandoned and only a few left for eating now. What a bad thing for being old!
Day in day out, I do everything but meditation or praying. Usually, meditation practice should be at time before going to bed or awake. But, I read fiction book at that time. The book make me sleep well. When I awake, it's time for morning exercise.
However, we have to accept mind and health conditions. People are not alike. Some are strong with the longer age, some are in the good society or riches. Only thing we are the same is being unhappy and happy. Even we have a shorter age, but all life are with good things to the world and family, that's a pride. Length of life has no mean comparing to do good or bad when being alive. Remember, life was built by the elements we ate and there must be some toxin mixing with those elements too. Mind can be purified by thinking positively. Then we can die at any ages with happy minds. Just be good to the world and people around. People in the longer age will also die not long after us.
Children, friendship is very important. I would like you to make friend. Talk to the people you meet. Be nice to them. If you like, please contact them again for friendship. If there is anyone come to your home, accept him/her and treat with the best, eventhough, he/she may not your direct guest. Think of people in positive ways, understand them, be friendly, don't hate them. Come near people, sit in the middle of the group and keep company. I am afraid you are not like me. My friends and their company are always on the top of my priority.
Life is short. Just forget the time , then come to the old age. Everyone have to be old too but in different times. Therefore, don't waste your time, time passes by and not return, anything you would like to do, please do it right away. For example, when you travel and want to buy thing you like, don't hesitate, because we may not come back to the same way again. Only life climbs to the top and comes down again. Climb with confidence, friendliness, be friend with the people you pass, on the way down, you meet them again.
