What I was doing on New Year [2010]

On December 21st, 2009, I went to Pra Monggootglao Hospital for the left eye cataract operation. Then I had to take the nursing recommendation for one month. The important items were as follow, not to have water in the eye, not to carry too heavy object and not to bend the head too low. I am going to have my right eye operation on April 19th.

I left for Chiangmai with the family on December 29th and came back on January 4th. I had to go anywhere as my family went bcause I needed them to help me in nursing recommendation. On January 8th, I went to Ayuthaya and back in one day with two old friends by free fare train. We had many friends there and this was for my friends to get together. On January 9th which was Saturday, we had the tradition to do merit by offering food to the monks. Everyone in our neighbourhood joined this activity in front of our house.

From Parking Lot, Pra Mongkootklao Hospital

On the day of operation, we went to the hospital before dawn. At the parking lot, floor 8th, for the visitors, I took some pictures of the sunrise scenery of the city. They looked good to me.

Chiangmai, Dec 29th-Jan 4th

In Chiangmai, we went to the 700 Years Sport Centre for morning walk. The weather was cool and dry. I wished this kind of weather stayed longer than ever. It was nice.

A man in the age 64, Time goes fast. When I saw the young people doing things, I recalled my old time and regreted that I could not go back, just walked ahead. This picture was taken at the place selling big trees.

Bobby my grand nephew, a long way for him to go. I hope he walk steady to the right direction

Sun started rising while I was walking. I wished our people to get up from bed early to look at the beautiful sun.

Full moon on the new year night. The sky was bright and it was cool. All were nice to welcome new year

The place we lived in Chiangmai on new year. This house was on Chotana Road near the Government Centre and Mae Ping River.

Another view of the house. It was well designed and newly built.

The multipurpose room in front of the house. We arranged Karaoke for the new year night in front of this room.

New year eve party. We arranged it for fun. Just eating under moonlight in front of the house by our small group. Family and old friends who living near by.

We were waiting for midnight and intended to count down for 10 second before new year. But unfortunately, we were too tired to stay awake and it was cold outdoor when getting late , We then decided to give in and went to sleep.

Our food for new year party, were cooked by Tid, my wife and were contributed by my friend's families who were our neighbours and close friends

New Year Food Offering to the monks at our Bangkok home with the neighbourhood,Jan 9th

On first Saturday of January, we, neighbours on Paholyothin 43 Street were waiting for the row of monks in front of our houses. The purpose was group merit doing and got to meet each other which was once a year. This day was children day as well.

Nong Beb and Bobby, our grand niece and nephew. They were our third generation if we were the first.

The monks were coming and we were busy with the food handing to them.

The monks were blessing us after receiving food as tradition. This taught us to be happy when we donated things to others

Going to Ayuthaya with Surasri and Samai, Jan 8th
As the cataract operation, I had to stop driving for a while. This was why we took a train to Ayuthaya. It was good to bring back our memory when we were young, trains were common for our countryside travels

Ayuthaya Train Station. This condition has been in long history since before I was born and now it looked the same. No change.

Surasri was sitting with other passengers on the train. This was the government paid train and no need to pay the fare. Policy to help the poors.

Samai in the middle. I was happy to look at the scenery out of the window. "Watch out, don't send your hands out of the window". The bridge and poles were everywhere we never knew otherwise we might lose hands. The reminding sign were too small and unnoticed for us.

Thinking of people who live near these stations, they just come to the stations, park the cars there and take the train to work in City Bangkok. Besides, I still love the atmosphere of the train stations in the countryside. They were clean, shading and freshening with trees and not crowded.

Lunch to dinner continuously with the group of Friends in Ayuthaya. This tradition has usually been behaved since we were young

Drinking, eating and talking. In the late evening, we moved to the restuarant belong to one of their friends for Karaoke. We headed back home in Bangkok about 7pm by the same train and arrived home about 8.30pm

These were my new year activities for this year. Unfortunately, my eye has not still effective. I could not read and wrtie well at the moment. I need to improve my reading glasses. I'll do it soon. Chavalvut
